Unhappy with policy

Hi,

I signed up for the travel insurance and paid for it at the time I paid for the trip.  I canceled and now RS is not giving me a credit and I am really upset about this. They are saying I paid too late.  I have my bank statement and the insurance was paid before the trip was paid.   This is really unacceptable.  

I have been on several other RS trips that were OK, but this problem takes the cake. I am scheduled to go to Santa FE, etc this Saturday and hopefully it will be my last RS trip.  I have just booked with odyssey Unlimited and I am looking forward to traveling with them.

  • Do you have your registration email?  All the dates & penalties are laid out there.  If that doesn't jive with what you believe I would send an email to RS laying out the discrepancies.

    When you say credit do you mean refund or credit for a future program?

    I just canceled two programs (Cancel for Any Reason) and received monies back minus deposit amounts.  I had the AON insurance, not purchased in the 14 day period, and had to contact AON for the deposit money which is not refunded by RS.   Luckily currently airlines have suspended penalties as Domestic travel is NOT covered by insurance.  Only International travel purchased thru RS as part of your program is covered.  It is possible to recover up to $300 on change fees.

    It is a pain when having to cancel, you are already disappointed but I have found RS true to their policies.  Some policies are clearer than others and should be a tad clearer for someone who has not been through a previous need to cancel. 

    CANCEL TIP: Before canceling a program print out all the screens on payments and dates of the program.  As soon as you cancel with RS they are all deleted from your account and not available to you.  If you have questions it comes in handy to let RS see what you were able to see on your program details should their be a discrepancy.  Any credits from previous cancels are also on one of these pages.  Make sure you print them as well.
