New Zealand-Australia Sept2018- Sydney Bridge

Is anyone interested in climbing the bridge over Sydney harbor in our free time there? I've done some indoor climbing, and I've read about this opportunity and thought I might try it. I'll only be there once!
  • i have to research how high it is! i'm not too fond of heights!
  • We were on this trip in Feb/March. You can see all details of bridge climb on bridge web site. It is very expensive and takes several hours. We didn't find the time but walked halfway across (not up) and saw the people on the climb.

Nanjer, thanks for the info. i just researched the climb and even the 1 1/2 hour sampler costs over $125 pp. .
Was it free to walk across the bridge ? i think that's what we'll do instead!

Yes it was free. You can get good directions to the entrance somewhere on the webb. The views were great, even from the roadway level. This trip was the best RS trip we've taken. Super organized. Very full of planned activities. Possible time for bridge walk after tour of the Rocks area or after Bondi Beach visit when back in town.

Thanks again Nanjer. Two burning questions about this trip. Are there laundromat facilities available along the way? and do the hotels have toiletries and hairdryers? this is part of a seven week trip and i don't know how to pack for that long! Thanks

We believe all hotels had toiletries and hairdryers. Some soap and shampoo from the bigger hotels might be helpful in some of the marginal places. We refuse to spend time on laundry during trips. Even though we were away for 4 weeks, we brought 30 days of underwear. Seven weeks we couldn't handle. However some of the hotels had facilities and the info handed out at each new location generally included location of a laundry. Most people found a way although some dealt with quick dry stuff in their sinks. This was the best organized tour we've been on and certainly the best Road scholar. Staff is abundant and helpful.

Wow 30 days of underwear! impressive! we have quick dry stuff but there is nothing like a real washer and dryer. Thanks again for the info, that will make packing easier. Sounds like you loved the tour.
  • Hi Sarah we’ve been talking about it again and think we might do the climb! Did u make arrangements yet? I emailed RS for the best day and time to do it. Suzanne

I haven't yet made arrangements. It looks like Saturday and Sunday 10/13 and 10/14 we have some time off in Sydney. I'm sure we can make that happen! I've since spoken to people who have just walked across the bridge for free, and they enjoyed the view from the roadbed. If you've ever done any climbing, it's a different experience.... Let me know what you find out!
