Best of China: Imperial Capitals, Tibet and Yangtze River Cruise 9/9 through 9/29

My husband (Ped) and I (Vickie) are going and we’d like to meet others. We’re from Chapel Hill, NC. This is our second Road Scholar tour. We went to Costa Rica about 3 years ago and really enjoyed it. Very much looking forward to this trip!

We are thinking of taking this trip. Does anyone recall the name of the cruise ship on the Yangtze River?

So impressed with our first Road Scholar experience in southern USA last year we are considering making our second visit to China with a RS tour in 2019. I would like to hear from anyone who has travelled in China with Road Scholar.

It just lists Victoria Cruis Lines in the Lodging section of the program.

For the icons/Yangtze River Cruise, we took Victoria Cruise lines’ Jenna, which I believe is the largest in their fleet. 6 stories, spacious front and back open decks with chairs, great Buffett breakfast, nightly cruise type entertainment by the staff, clean bedrooms, small but adequate. You can find them in the internet

On the Icons/Yangtze Cruise you will see what most folks will ask about. I’m response to,”Did you see .....whatever. “. You’ll say, “yes,” but you will spend a sizable amount of time in airports to do it (so look closely at the map RS provides) as well as at least five 10,000+ step days. And did I mention that Ancient and modern Chinese seem to love steps. I would do it again, but anyone planning to go needs to pay attention to the descriptions provided in the itinerary. They are not exaggerating. You can’t drink the water in China ( neither can they), but bottled water is freely available from your guide and the hotels provide two bottles daily in our modern accommodations.
