Just signed up for 1rst Road Scholar Trip. Airfare purchased through RS so ground transport included but was wondering if it is bus, train, or cab from Heathrow to hotel and bus, train. or cab from hotel to CDG? Looking forward to this if we can be "patient" for 10 months.
Last year at this time I was actually on a RS trip in Britain. Pickup from Heathrow was in a van/cab to the hotel. On other RS trips when I have arrived on the start date, pickup has been on a chartered…
I've done a couple of Road Scholar trips in France. The one that ended in Paris, the guide arranged vans for various times based on what time flights were leaving. I wound up in the last group (later flight out) and there were only 3 of us so we were in a taxi.
IF you can manage it and if the company hasn't already purchased your airfare yet, try to go a day or 2 ahead of time to London. You'll have a chance to get over your jet lag and London is very easy to get around. If they can't provide transportation ahead of time the train or Tube (metro) is very easy to take in to London then a cab from the station taxi rank to your hotel is very easy to do yourself. You should easily be able to get a night or two at the same hotel. I just book them online at the hotel website myself then tell them on check in that I'm with the Road Scholar group to see if I can stay in the same room the whole time. Very easy to do.
I love Paris and would want to stay a few more days there as well! Very easy to have the hotel arrange for a taxi pickup to the airport. Just ask them the night before and have them pick you up 4 hours ahead of your flight (1 hour to airport and you need to be there 3 hours ahead of time for an international departure).
