I am considering going on this trip. Has anyone else signed up for the one beginning September 22nd?
We're booked on that trip. Hope Covid doesn't interfere.
I booked the October 6 trip. I am hearing that you are stuck at the airport for hours while they check your requiredentry information.
I just returned from "The Best of Iceland" tour yesterday. Airport check-in and arrival was a breeze in both directions, so don't know what the issue was on the TripAdvisor forum. RS had…
I'm not on that trip but did you see that a volcano that's been dormant for 6,000 years started to erupt recently? I've been fascinated watching the webcam!
The good thing is that Iceland is open to US tourists who have been vaccinated so that would make me hopeful about a trip in September happening.
Looks like a busy but fun time!
I've not been to Iceland but I went over to the Trip Advisor Iceland forum to see what kind of issues were being reported. I saw one recent post saying on arrival it took them one hour from the time the plane touched down to being out of the airport and on their way. I saw one other report from someone who said on departure it took them 95 minutes from being in line at check in to being at the gate plus another 30 minutes to drop off the car and get from the car rental location into the airport concourse.
Neither of those times sounds outrageous for me but I'd want to add more time for departure because I want time for a quick comfort stop before I get on the plane, lol. I usually plan for 3 hours ahead at any airport with an International flight and folks on the Paris forum are recommending 4 hours ahead to get thru check in/exit immigration/security at that location.
The Trip Advisor Iceland forum looks pretty active in case you want to monitor the threads there for information from current travelers.

I just returned from "The Best of Iceland" tour yesterday. Airport check-in and arrival was a breeze in both directions, so don't know what the issue was on the TripAdvisor forum. RS had a huge bus for the 16 of us so plenty of room and they asked us to mask-up while driving which everyone did (with a few lapses here and there). Masks are required inside everywhere in Iceland and I only saw one unmasked couple (not in our group) in one museum in an 11 day trip. Tourism is still not back to what it was, so for the most part we could maintain our little travel bubble. In my opinion, Iceland felt pretty safe.
I'm signed up for this trip later in the winter. It's coming around to my final payment date. I can tell that other trips to Iceland clearly had people drop out. I really want to go! Anyone have any comments? Who is still planning a Long Weekend in Iceland this Fall/Winter? Who changed their mind? Why?
We are going Oct. 20-25, we were booked for last year…
we haven’t yet purchased trip insurance, I am a little concerned about the required PCR test. We have both been vaccinated and would hate to test positive and miss the trip but also hate paying for trip insurance.
