choosing an Ireland trip

We are new to Road Scholar, and want to visit Ireland late summer or early fall next year.  Just in case this is the only chance we have to visit Ireland, which trip (s) would be best.  we are looking for a mix of history, culture, small town/city, as well as real experiences of Irish people.

We just returned from Enchanting Ireland: Town and Country. Highly recommend it! The number of days, 10 days, was just right. (We were all getting a bit tired at the end, ready to go home.) I did not feel that there was too much bus time. The longest bus ride was from western Ireland to Dublin, and that was broken up with a stop at the Stud Horse Farm and Gardens. This trip spends a day on the Dingle Peninsula, which was the best! It's so beautiful there! There was "on your own" time, which we used to visit small village pubs, and there were two arranged experiences of authentic Irish music. Also, the small group size of 24 people was nice. I can't imagine traipsing around with a larger group.

Thank you for posting this review. We leave in three weeks for this same tour and we are getting excited. It will be our first tour with Road Scholar and first trip to Ireland. It sound like we chose well from your review. Any other suggestions for us?

Enjoy your trip! I downloaded the book "For the Love of Ireland" to my iPad and brought it along--it had a nice sampling of Irish literature linked to different places.
