Hiking boots for Enchanting Ireland: Town and Country trip

I'm wondering if I should pack my hiking boots for my upcoming trip, Enchanting Ireland. It's an active trip. Has anyone out there taken it? Is it active enough that boots are helpful? Or are gym shoes good enough?

I was on the “Best of Ireland” 2-week trip in May-June. Sturdy tennis shoes with good tread were fine. Hiking boots were going to take up too much space, unless I wore them on the plane, which I didn’t want to do. The only place you’d be likely to want them would be on the Dingle Peninsula & the Burren, but unless it’s pouring buckets (always a possibility — we were lucky and had no rain) tennis shoes should be fine. You’ll likely walk miles in Dublin — comfortable walking shoes are a must. Enjoy!

Thanks! I still may take the boots, but you're right--I wouldn't want to wear them on the plane, and they're awfully big to pack.

Follow up: I went on this trip with gym shoes, not hiking boots, and I was fine.
