Hello everyone, my name is Larry and I will be taking a RS trip to Yucatán in November. We will be visiting several Mayan ruins, six I believe.
I am looking forward to it and hope to communicate with others who may also be going (Water and the Maya; Archeology of Northern Yucatán).
I haven't been to Yucatán since 1992, and back then, the Caribbean coast was NOT wall-to-wall hotels all up and down the coast (as it is now).
But once we depart westward to the interior, it'll be much better I'm sure. Still, when my wife and I visited Cobá back then, there were maybe
20 gringos and a group of present-day Mayans burning copal and having a ceremony at one of the old temple ruins. I was stunned to go on line
and see present-day Cobá with a huge parking lot filled with cars, hundreds of tourists, and most of the jungle cleared away!
