Croatia - May 2017

Hi, My wife and I are traveling on "Island Hopping in Magical Croatia" 5/15, with a follow on "Croatia: Treasure of Adriatic Coast" 5/25.  Interested in connecting with anyone else on those tours.  Dale & Rita

  • Hi I am on the "Best of Croatia" Coastal Voyage" trip that starts on 5/6. I am traveling by myself. I'd like to make connections with others on that trip before we leave. Very much looking forward to this adventure! Chris Marl

Hi Chris, we tried to get on your trip first but were unable to get flights (we travel on FF miles.) But thanks for responding. Did you see in the news that we may need to get Visa's? Depends on how fast it gets implemented. I hope that it is nothing more then pay at upon arrival. Dale & Rita

Dale and Rite: Yes, I saw this morning about the visa thing. The report I read made it sound like it is non-binding at this point. Made me glad I decided to go to Croatia this year! But I was thinking about Romania for next year -- now, perhaps that will be more complicated than otherwise. I hope you enjoy your trip!

Hi Chris, two years ago we did a cruise/land tour in Vietnam and Cambodia. We had to get visa's for both. Not too expensive (other then FedEx) and turn-around for each was about a week. A couple of more years ago, we were taking a cruise to South America. Several of the stops required visa's and they were expensive. We had to cancel the trip before getting the visa's so we don't know if there would have been problems. If the country has there forms on-line w/costs, it is not difficult to get them yourself. If you go through one of the visa processing companies, it can get expensive. Some countries just have you pay a few dollars upon arrival which is the best. I'm waiting to see what Road Scholar says on it.
  • Hi, I'm on your trip and traveling alone. Nice to know there actually will be others. I'm from Dallas and have traveled extensively usually taking students or family or alone. This is my first w/RS. Hoping for good weather and a fun trip. Sue Conger.

    Hi Sue,

My wife and I were in Croatia last year about the same time. Weather was mixed. Near the shore, it was pretty windy and cool. Which trip are you doing? Dale
  • Hi Susan - I look forward to meeting you. I've had experiences traveling with people from Texas. Do you fly into Frankfurt ont the way out? Maybe we can meet there? I am sure this will be fun!

Hi, I'm doing the one on the 15th four islands starting in Split and ending in Dubrovnik on the 25th. This is my 76th country but my first RS trip. Usually, I'm alone. I'm taking cool weather clothes but its sounding like I need a warm jacket for sure. I don't like to travel too heavy so try to only take essentials. I'm looking forward to the trip and meeting new people my age. It will be a new experience. Sue

Hi Sue - Well rats. We are on different sessions of the same trip. I am on the one that starts May 6 and goes from Dubrovnik to Split. Have a wonderful time!

Yes, I go thru Frankfurt but don't have alot of changeover time so may not get to do much but change planes. Too bad about the timing, maybe another trip.

Hi, heinsd...... - we are going to Vietnam in Nov. I'm a cheapskate and would prefer not to pay the visa processing fee of $75/person if I can reliably do it myself. It doesn't seem too difficult. Is that what you did, or did you follow RS's recommendation to use the visa processing service? Thanks. Kathi W., Monterey CA kathiwojo@yahoo.com
