We are Chuck and Sandy from Sacramento CA and are so looking forward to this trip.  Have had a challenging time getting Egyptian Pounds.  Waiting to hear from Travelex whether or not they can get them.  If not, we will get them in Cairo.  We are coming independently from Road Scholar, but will be meeting up with everybody on the 10th.  We would love to hear from others who are going to be on this trip as well as those who have been on it previously.

We just came back from this trip. We never changed any money into Egyptian pounds and didn't feel the need to. But since you are traveling independantly you will need them for your pickup at the airport. You can order them through your bank. At the Bazaars they take US dollars and Euros. All tips are included in the RS program including tipping the bathroom attendant if there was one. I would always bring wet wipes and tissues with as some bathrooms don't have any. Only one person got diarrhea and that was the last day of the trip. Most of us were taking one Pepto Bismol tablet a day. The food was varied and good. The only problem we encountered was we were not prepared for how cold rainy and dreary it was the first week. Then on the river boat we found that did not have any availability to heat at all! We froze, had 2 quits and had to wear jackets to bed to feel warm. Maybe it will be warmer in Feb. I would not recommend going in January. Also the school kids are out in January so many sites were crowded with families. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have about this trip. It was beyond fabulous.
