I'm excited! Would anyone like to chat with me?
Hahaha....sure I'll chat! I'm not on a Road Scholar tour to Scotland but I did a Rick Steves tour to Scotland in 2018.
I will tell you that Scotland is the ONLY place I've been on any of my Road Scholar or Rick Steves tours that I wished I had thrown my rain pants in my suitcase. Ya know, they fold up to the size of my fist and would not have added any weight, lol even though I'm a light packer! That was on an exceedingly rainy day in June visiting Mull and Iona. Fortunately the B&B had those wonderful heated towel racks and there was enough heat radiating from the bottom to also dry out my shoes (took out the insoles).
A waterproof jacket with a hood is a necessity. Umbrellas are useless.
What month are you traveling in and which trip are you going on?
We are going, (Best of Scotland)N so we hope (not open for US yet) September 1. Really excited as well. I have my waterproof shoes and my REI waterproof trench coat, so now all I need is the pants. Not for cities, but for countryside. I booked my flight on Air Lingus which says they will give a credit if we have to cancel; I booked round trip to Edinburg so we can do a few days there; I booked a refundable hotel there. Now all I have left is to pay the balance to Road Scholar and book a train from Edinburg to Glasgow for the start of the trip. Lots of mysteries set in Edinburg to read; and a brief history of Scotland. Maybe I'll rewatch Braveheart though I don't like Mel Gibson...
