We are going, (Best of Scotland)N so we hope (not open for US yet) September 1.  Really excited as well.  I have my waterproof shoes and my REI waterproof trench coat, so now all I need is the pants.  Not for cities, but for countryside.  I booked my flight on Air Lingus which says they will give a credit if we have to cancel; I booked round trip to Edinburg so we can do a few days there; I booked a refundable hotel there.  Now all I have left is to pay the balance to Road Scholar and book a train from Edinburg to Glasgow for the start of the trip.  Lots of mysteries set in Edinburg to read; and a brief history of Scotland.  Maybe I'll rewatch Braveheart though I don't like Mel Gibson...
