fabric shopping while on Tanzania trip

Greetings,   I know that shopping is NOT a part of the Road Scholar itinerary but I'm a quilter and would love to purchase some African fabric.   We leave on Sept. 2nd for The Great Migration trip, starting in Arusha.   If anyone has any suggestions for fabric shopping I'd love to hear from you.   Thanks so very much

Mary

  • Hi - We must be on the same trip! This will be my second trip to Tanzania; previous trip was in 2007 with the Sierra Club. I notice that the itinerary says that we have lunch at the Cultural Heritage House. I am reasonably certain that this refers to this place www.culturalheritage.co.tz and I suspect you will find fabric there, although our time will be limited. There also will be vendors at various locations and lodges who likely will have fabric with other crafts. Looking forward to this trip. Safe travels!

thank you for the information, I'll take a look at the Cultural Heritage House. You must have enjoyed Tanzania if you're going back. Take care,

  • I shopped at the Cultural Heritage House when I went to Tanzania with Road Scholar last December (2018). It was our last stop of the program and one of the few shopping opportunities. But what an opportunity it was! You will find just about everything "Tanzanian" there. Put on your shopping shoes.
