the first RS trips I took were amazing! Great value, program leaders, lodging and variety of field trips and education. THey are:
Railways and the Grand Canyon (2016) from Sedona with many field trips and an overnight at Grand Canyon. Great value, and the October weather was wonderful.
the second was in and outside of Quebec, Canada: CObblestones, Carvers, and Waterfalls. Beautiful lodge at foot of mountains, great excursions, wonderful food and numerous entertainment and lectures. GOod tours in countryside and in Quebec city Program was created about 20 years ago. Very reasonable. I took the train to Quebec rail station from Montreal, a nice ride. Of course driving or flying options. Recommend
I went solo on both and had great new friends and many good guides.
"I'm starting with a criminology trip to MA in March to get my feet wet. It's something I can drive to from NY." I think this is a wise choice. I did that (picked a program I could drive to) with my first RS trip in 2009 and it worked out great. Fell in love with RS programs and haven't looked back! It's an excellent resource for solo travelers! ~Pam
