Unable to access "Personal Information" and "Your Preferences" in my RS account

adagreen012059 over 2 years ago

I am taking Winter in Portugal: The Colorful Island Culture of  Madeira in February.  I log onto my Road Scholar account but am totally unable to "Provide Personal Information" or "Indicate Your Preferences."  When I click on those links, I get the message "You've hit a bump in the road".  I have been trying to indicate my food restrictions, bed preference, and other information for two weeks now (ever since you did away with your Participant Information Form).  Have tried on 3 different devices (my laptop, my iPad, and my iPod) and keep getting the message "You've hit a bump in the road' on each one.  If you cannot get this problem fixed, please send me a paper copy of the old Participant Information Form so that I can fill in my necessary requirements.

Me too! When I go to "My Account->Personal Information" the page comes up but it is covered by the gray film with the rotating semicircle "loading" sign -- and that never goes away.

I have tried in Firefox, Chrome, and Safari. I have cleared the cache on Firefox and rebooted. I can see there is outdated info in there, but I can't get to it to change it.

I got a very nice followup phone call from support. Although they have not yet fixed access to my Person Info page, they are working on it, and in the meantime checked my personal info and made sure it was complete at their end.

Please let me know when they’ve fixed it so that I can check whether mine has been fixed as well.  In the meantime RS just cancelled my Signature City San Francisco program from May 28-June 2.  That’s my 4th one to be cancelled for this year.  Do I cry or what?

Oh my word...I can't believe you've had another cancelled out. That's appalling and maybe a little scary when contemplating a program.

Maybe one of the bits of information they should start including on the program "Overview" tab is the cancellation rate.

Thank you, Pam, for your sympathy. Who would have ever thought Signature City San Francisco would be cancelled? One of America’s most popular cities and Road Scholar’s Signature City programs are highly popular. I guess Road Scholars have other plans for Memorial Day weekend. I already have my round-trip airline ticket and am considering going there on my own. But it won’t be the same as going with Road Scholar.

I feel your pain. I have had same program canceled, one day apart, twice this year. I moved all my early arrival reservations and flights. I got call the next day the program was canceled for all dates. One program canceled last year and I had to reschedule. One program I had to reschedule in 2013 and then the National Parks shutdown and we had to come home. Now I am paranoid when I book a trip. My favorite part of traveling is the planning. After doing a lot of research it is disappointing to know that is not going to happen. Thank goodness I am retired. When working I didn't have the flexibility to turn on a dime.

LOL, not. RS said they are aware of the UPCOMING PROGRAMS error "Bump In The Road".

On the up side they said they were releasing a fix today to the UPCOMING PROGRAMS trip details being incorrect.

Can't say if that fix worked or not because I can't get into UPCOMING PROGRAMS, it's broken!

If I get canceled again from Roads Scholar, I will not book with them again. Too much time taken when I could have booked with another company.

I was able to get into UPCOMING TRIPS and the itineraries for my trips are now correct. I added note on my preferences for those fields on the HEALTH AND SAFETY that will not save. Thank you.

I have also tried to finish my preferences multiple times but the information is not getting saved. I used both Safari and Firefox but both failed. Parts are saved but the last two items are not. Puzzling!

1/25/2020  PM *** It's NOT working again this afternoon ***  BUMP IN THE ROAD IS BACK ***

    1/25/2020  AM *** It's working again this morning ***

Guess who's back? Bump In The Road. I can't get into UPCOMING PROGRAMS. I have logged out, cleared cache and logged back in.

Every time I have to do this I have to go thru two step authentication to log on to all the other sites I had open.

I still have Bump in the Road for "Personal Information" and still cannot access "Indicate Personal Preferences."  Plus several other tech issues.  RS's tech department is not getting back to me.

I hate to ask did you try this? Log out of your RS account. Then clear your search history aka clear your cache. Log out of your browser (I use Chrome). Wait a few minutes or restart your computer. Log back into your browser. Log back into RS. Can you now get to anything?

I also just noticed what time zone is this forum in?  I am on EST and time I sent this was 8:39 am.  Showing as 1:39 PM?

Hi Travel Hound, Thank your for your suggestions. I have an iPad and an iPod. I just cleared my search history on my iPad, but am still having the same issues. My web browser is Safari. I don't know how to log out of it and am afraid to lest I can't get back into it again. In any event, I don't think that will help. Someone suggested that I change my RS password. I tried that a few days ago and that didn't help either.

I have three different problems with the RS website, as outlined below. The first one is common to both my iPad and iPod, the second only to my iPad, and the third only to my iPod. Weird stuff.

    1. When I log onto my account, I can't get into either Personal Information or Preferences on either device. For the Personal Information I get the Bump in the Road stuff; for the Preferences I am met with a Catch-22 situation that indicates that I have to set my preferences (such as dietary restrictions or ) in Personal Information.

    2. On my iPad, when I click on Collections (whether I am in my RS account or not) and click on any given category (New Programs, Signature Cities, Grandparent, National Parks, Walking and Hiking, etc.) only the first 9 programs appear. For instance, Grandparent shows that there are 172 programs, but only the first 9 are appearing. There is no button for me to go to the next page (which should happen automatically anyway as I scroll down the page). This issue is happening only on my iPad and it just started this past week. Before that it was showing all programs. This problem is unique to my iPad only and is not occurring on my iPod.

    3. On my iPod, which is brand new (only 3 weeks old) I am having the same issue that you did with the listing of upcoming programs in your account. When I log onto my account, I cannot scroll through the programs (and I'm registered for 12 of them between this year and early next, including 2 program extensions to "Winter in 'X'" programs). It just shows the first 3 programs and I can't scroll down to the rest. That is an issue that is unique to my iPod. On my iPad I can scroll down to all 12 programs.

Based on the above , it seems to me that RS uses a different technology for iPad than it does for iPod. Otherwise why would I have different issues with different devices? My iPad is quite old -- it is OS version 10.3.3 and is not upgradeable to any new OS software systems (planned obsolescence). Tomorrow I will go to the Apple Store near me, log onto my RS Account on one of their latest iPads on display (OS version 13.3) and see if I am having the same problems. Hope I don't have to buy a new iPad -- the new iPod was expensive enough!

I live in NYC and ideally I would really like to go to Boston with both of the aforementioned devices and work with their tech department in person. I don't think these problems can be resolved over the phone -- and so far no technician has called me anyway, even though I was issued order numbers for all 3 of the above issues. I don't know if they would be willing or able to work with any of their clientele in person. But just for the record, I'd like RS to know that I am willing to go to Boston with my iPad and iPod in an attempt to try to resolve these issues with their tech department.

As far as the time is concerned, my iPad currently says 10:19 AM (EST).

    Thanks again for your assistance.

I think I would be willing to chip in on your train ticket to go meet with the IT folks. You can represent ALL of us!

Thank you, Pam, for your kind offer to chip in on my train (or bus) ticket to Boston. No need to though -- on 7 Feb I need to go to Boston anyway because my flight to my next RS program (Winter in Madeira) leaves from Logan that evening (the TAP Air Portugal flight out of JFK did not allow enough time to transfer in Lisbon -- 45 minutes if I recall correctly). So conceivably I could take a VERY early train or bus to Boston on 7 Feb, meet with RS tech staff that morning with my 2 aforementioned Apple devices), and then make my way to Logan Airport for my early evening flight. What say you, Road Scholar?

    On iPad Mini 5(using Safari):
    1. When I login it does not give me the option of staying signed in
    2. I can get to UPCOMING TRIPS
    - my correct itinerary shows
    3. I updated previous fields I could not update on Lenovo Desktop using Chrome & Windows 10 Home.
    4. I logged out of MY ACCOUNT and logged back in and Room Requirements now saved

on iPad mini 5(using Google Chrome):
    1. When I login it does not give me the option of staying signed in
    2. I can get to UPCOMING TRIPS
    - my correct itinerary shows
    3. Room Requirements still showing as saved.

On iPad see this on YouTubewww.youtube.com/watch

All your open windows will show up, you may be using up too much memory with all the open apps.

See if that works. If you want to take this offline you can send friend request.
