I guess I can applaud Road Scholar for creative thinking in how to matain their mission, but online travel lectures instead of real travel - REALLY?? I would never buy an Impossible Whopper at Burger King and I can’t see why ersatz travel is attractive, either. Perhaps the response to virtual lectures indicates a potential revenue stream but, good as they have been, they are not something that I would pay for.
I realize that for those who cannot afford full programs or who can no longer physically participate this may be an option, but for the core customer base I doubt that it will suffice. If I have to wait another year, so be it. Road trip solo opportunities abound in the meantime.
Hello, At Road Scholar we strive to continue our mission of providing learning opportunities to adults. We understand that virtual travel may not be of interest to all of our participants, but we find it is an excellent way to connect with our participants who may not be able to travel anymore or for those who want to ‘dip their feet’ into our programming. Not only has our launch of this new series been very popular but we have also started to receive requests for specific destinations. We hope no matter if you join us online or in-person that we continue to inspire lifelong learning! Sincerely, Kirsten
