At Road Scholar, we’re always on the lookout for new ways for our participants to learn about the world. Do you have an idea for a new Road Scholar program? We created this discussion forum just for that purpose, and we’d love to hear from you. We’ll read every suggestion posted here, though we’ll only contact you if we need more information.
I have just finished leading an Osher Institute class on 19th century utopian communities of the Midwest, and several of the class members said they thought it would make a good Road Scholar program. Sites to visit could include New Harmony, Indiana; Bishop Hill, Illinois; Nauvoo, Illinois; the Amana colonies in Iowa; the French Icarian colony in Iowa; Bethel, Missouri; and perhaps several others. I'd be happy to talk about this idea with anyone interested.
